Three pupils have been presented with prizes for their imaginative designs of an outside habitat area to be built in the grounds of the new Llanfoist school, which is due to open in September.
The area, which will be used as an important learning space, will be built at no cost to the school or Monmouthshire County Council after local businesses donated building supplies and further contributions from the contractor, Willmott Dixon Turners.
The new school is part of the overall review of primary education which will help to raise standards of achievement in Monmouthshire and has already seen several new primary schools being built throughout the county.

Cllr Peter Fox, council leader and cabinet member for education, said: "Unfortunately these pupils will be moving on to secondary school in September and will not get to experience this wonderful new school.
"At least they can say they contributed to the design."
