Go ahead with the wood on your right for 350 yds to a wooden gate. Go ahead into the next field with the fence on your left, through two more gates to reach a metalled road at Pant Glas Farm. Turn right and follow the road downhill to the entrance to "Woodlands".

Go up the track for 100 yds to a clearing and take a narrow path on the right along the edge of the wood to stile and up steps up to a forest road. Turn left and after 100 yds turn left down steps at a fingerpost (Trellech Furnace). Go down to a stream at the bottom (Penarth Brook). Cross stepping stones and bear left up a steep path leading into a wood. Follow waymark posts up to a stile at the edge of the wood. Cross and follow the right field edge for 200 yds to stile by large ash tree. Cross and go diagonally across a field to stile into Alpine Farm. Turn left and follow the farm road for 400 yds to Upper Cae Garw Farm.
